Once she stopped rushing through life, she was amazed how much more life she had time for I am thrilled to find myself back in San Luis Obispo, after an exciting summer abroad. Before leaving for Peru, I enjoyed a little bit of the SLO summer experience. I spent two weeks couch-surfing; enjoying the spontaneity and flexibility it encouraged. After the couch-surfing experience I moved in to my new house. I am living in a large 8 bedroom house, in a central location halfway between downtown San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly campus. I am living with 9 friends, all who are apart of Cal Poly's adventure program, Poly Escapes. Hopefully with this house, we can support a stronger community within our program and provide a place for adventure and good times outside of the workplace. I am finally back to the house, which we have formally named, "The Summit"
The Summit has already seen a lot of love and joy over the summer. The housemates that have stayed over the summer worked hard on some house projects such as the garden, infrastructure fixes, a library, and our couch-surfing reputation. I have been back into SLO for a couple days, and I am smoothly transitioning back into the "slo pace" of things. Picnics in the parks, grocery shopping for local food, rock climbing, biking to the beach, surfing, and enjoying downtown nightlife. It's amazing to live in a place full of opportunity and with so many interesting and personable individuals to spend time with. I have less then a month to get back into school mode, but I am embracing the summer energy that is still in the air. I am jumping back into my priorities with my work with SLO county as the wellness intern as well as organizing the first Real Food Coop weekly fundraising event that will be held during fall quarter. I look forward to all the amazing moments and memories that are yet to come!
